Do You Know About Cat Cafe?

Alright guys, we finally have our first cat cafe in North America -Montreal, Canada. So you can imagine how thrilled everyone is... like super excited about. My facebook newsfeed was all about "Omg it's happening" to "Omg when is it opening?" a month ago. Little to people know, the Cafe Des Chats is already opened. At least the first one near Sherbrooke metro. 3435 Avenue Saint-Denis, Montreal.

It's funny because I didn't know a cat cafe was already opened. You know why? Because all we heard in publicity is Cafe Chat L'Heureux and not Cafe Des Chats. Waaaaat? I didn't even know Cafe Des Chats existed?!!!! And are you telling me there will be TWO cat cafes? I am telling you there's one already open and the other is on the way. I'm not sure if they both belonged to the same owner but whatever is going on... the owner of Cafe Des Chats really needs to snatch public's attention before Cafe Chat L'Heureux opens... because that place is all everyone has ever heard of and is anticipating on visiting. If any of you have any cool gossips, write them in the comments below. We would like to know more. Thanks.

Back to the subject...So I am here to enlighten you that YES there is a Cat Cafe already in business in Montreal (and they are within walking distance between each other... huh? yup! Competition might gonna be fierce! Rawr!) If you want to cuddle a cat, go there! Or wait until Cafe Chat L'Heureux is open. It's up to you.

So as a pet lover, I visited Cafe Des Chats (and will visit Chat L'Heureux when it opens eventually.)
It's located on Saint-Denis avenue, which is the hub-hub of fancy restaurants and beautiful little boutiques, at the heart of Montreal. For visitors, please visit that street. It's not too touristic and locals love to dine there. Trust me. You'll like it.

This is the entrance... it says "The Cat is King"... so it's safe to say that the cats there are getting the real pampering of their lifetime. Everyone is going there just to love them. How awesome is that?

It's a great place for couples and friends. The ambiance is quiet and peaceful, with occasional cats crawling on your table... love it.
The menu is a bit small, maybe they will expand it later. Don't panic. They have your usual coffees alright. They have Expresso, Meowchiato, Catpuccino, Americano, and bottled soda, ice tea, and some desserts. The price range is from $3.50 to $4.95 if I remember correctly.
I ordered a Meowchiato but I am not a big coffee drinker. So I can't judge if the taste is exceptional or not. You will have to try it yourself and let me know.
The innocent little kitten... This poor little fellow is hiding under the chair, away from all the fabulous attention it is getting. Like I said earlier, they are definitely not left out. There were like 8 cats for 15 tables. Everyone wants to pet them! Hide yo cats, hide yo back, we wanna pet ya' all!

This cat is majestic. Despite its grumpy looks, it tolerates your petting. :P

The chill spots for lazy cats.

The kitties are friendly. They don't scratch if that's what you are worried about. They will let you pet them (who doesn't?). The store also lets you use cat toys to bait them into playing with you. As shown above, the cashier playing with the cat... or rather trying to get the cat down and away from the fragile cups.

This cat is really pretty. Totally elegant. Its fur is so soft.

This is where the cats eat their meals. The place is a bit gloomy but it is expected. It's the place for the cats to rest. They have entertained you enough. Time to relax. Being with people can be exhausting. I don't blame them. They are real champs/hosts.

Sleep now, random kitten. This one will lick you if you go near. :)

Misoya Sushi Review

Misoya is probably one of the most underrated Asian restaurants in Montreal. The food is extreeemely delicious. The outside doesn't look very attractive because of the part of a bigger store next door but you should never judge the book by its cover. My family went in there and booooyyyy, it's quite homey. It's tiny and cute. The waitress was very friendly. There was no other customer beside us so they dedicate all their love in their food. Result: very yummy.
They serve both Korean and Japanese dishes which are quite authenticated. We had bimbimbap, sushi and some udon tempura shrimp noodle soup (<---- definitely delicious. Must try it)

Delicious tea. It has a very 'beautiful' taste to it. I can't quite explain. It's just ... beautiful. The taste. I know it sounds weird but it was like a soft layer of creamy feel when you drink it. You have to try it yourself.
I know I say this many times already but the food is allll amazing. I have never been to a restaurant where I just want to eat every single thing and was sad that my stomach is tiny. The miso is very smooth. The tofu is carefully diced and the ingredients are well cut.

Ok enough of vintage photos. I didn't bring my camera so I used my dad's phone and I was like "oooOOhhhh it has cool features so we had fun trying those out. So the following pictures are not up to my usual quality. I like natural and pretty. Hohoho... I have an unhealthy love towards my camera. Kidding.

The sushi are very fresh and delicious. Having worked at a sushi franchise as cashier, I have my fair share of knowledge when it comes to quality and freshness. (Tips for freshness: to know if the sushi is good, look at the state of the avocados. If the avocados are beautifully green with no brown area, it's very fresh.)

The tempura shrimp is very crunchy and everything was just pure delicious. The sushi rolls are also well rolled (not loose. The ingredients are falling apart.) Overall sushi: A. I will definitely go back again.
I love how they decorated the wasabi. They made it looks like blooming flowers. Quite cute.

The green salad was okay. I am more fond of their wakame salad (below). The sauce they dipped the wakame in was sweet and yummy. Oh geez, I am getting hungry just by looking at all these pictures as I am typing right now (and I just ate!)

Don't let this soaky appearance disappoint you. It's soooo good. The tempura is so crunchy. The udon noodles are smooth like silk. I love it. Even though it's my little brother's meal, I kept stealing some when he wasn't looking. That's how good it is! I'm not even kidding. Next time when I go back, I am bringing in a crowd so that everyone can order something different and we can all try out their other meals. I bet they are alllll delicious. If you are in Montreal and have a love for Asian food, go to Misoya.
You won't regret it.

Shabu Shabu BBQ Korean Restaurant

I had passed by this Korean restaurant everyday and saw a lot of people dining in there so I decided to give it a try. The interior decors is quite superb and neat. The place itself is quite spacious and the seats are comfy. The food is also huge in portion. The waitress was very friendly and smiley. Overall experience is pretty good. Now let see what we ate!
As you can see, the atmosphere is splendid. I went there during lunch so I missed out this beautiful sunset. The lighting was nice too during the early afternoon so no big lost! Ah... again just by looking at this place, I feel all hungry again. Hehe. Another cool thing about Shabu Shabu Korean BBQ is the golf stimulation. There is a section in the nice corner of the restaurant with a TV and a golf set (game). I didn't exactly have the chance to see it properly but I thought it was quite a cute idea to include the golf stimulation.
Disclaimer: The three top photos are taken from Shabu Shabu's official website.
So we ordered 3 BBQ dishes (1 Samgeopsal & 2 Bulgogi) @12.95 each and a short rib soup with some transparent noodles called Galbitang ($11.95). They gave us plenty of sidedishes + 4 rice (4 people). I love the tea they serve. Very delicious. Fragrance but not too strong. Just perfect.

You can see the sidedishes and the plate of 2 Bulgogi combined. The sidedishes have some potatoes, kimchi, seaweed (very yummy)
That is the plate of 2 orders of Bulgogi combined. So it is around $25.90. The portion is huuuge. My dad and I nearly stuffed ourselves to finish it. Don't let the view deceives you. Let your stomach decide once you actually finish the whole plate. By far, it is very worthy compare to other Korean restaurants I had been too. I went to this shabby looking Korean restaurant in Chinatown once. The food is good but the portion is not sufficient. We probably ordered the dish twice and were nowhere near as full as we did with Shabu Shabu.

This is the Galbitang. It's not very big but it's just for the taste. :) We ordered it for my little brother so it's good enough for a little fellow.
3 beautiful strips of Samgeoupsal (pork belly). Aren't they beautiful?

Well, this is what the end product looks like. You see a bit of Samgeoupsal on the top and a bunch of sizzling Bulgogi. I took this shot so that you can see how wonderful those sizzling bubbles are. The smell is incredibly delicious. The low flame that keeps everything hot and fresh. I would definitely return there again!

Great news is that while doing research for this blog entry, I went to their website and saw they have free coupon to giveaway. (I wish I saw it earlier... *sulk*) Well, good for you readers! To make your life easy, I embedded the official website link in the picture so just click on the picture and off you go! Enjoy!

Japon Sushi Bar

Looking for a charming sushi bar restaurant? Well, check out Japon Sushi Bar at St-Laurent (Montreal). The atmosphere is perfect. The food are beautiful decorated and the place is perfect for a romantic dinner.  I absolutely adore the contemporary touch the place has. At night, the sushi bar has great lighting ambiance and quiet music. Absolutely breath-taking!

Oh! Isn't the decors amazing! A beautiful touch of contemporary style and a nice Japanese style-ish private room! The decors at night is simply beautiful. I strongly urge you guys to go there when the sun is setting. The light is simply gorgeous, perfect atmosphere for lovely couples. You should also reserve a nice table before you go. Who knows, it might be full. My family called to make a reservation just in case. The waiters are friendly though I find our waitress to be a bit too shy. Nevertheless, the dinner went well. My family had a superb time there.

(Disclaimer: The pictures above are taken from the shop's website. I went there in the evening so the photo won't come out nicely... sad blogger is sad.)

Yummy! Look at those delicious, beautifully rolled sushi!
We were 3 people and we ate $93. LOL. I was so stuffed afterward, I think I can hibernate now. Winter is around the corner anyway! The sushi (5 pieces) are market price, depending on the ingredients.

We ordered 2 sushi rolls:
Spider -crab: $7.95
Titanic -salmon: $9.95

Then we ordered 3 set meals (pretty big portion):
$15 (chicken)
$16 (salmon)
$32 (Salmon + miso soup + wakame salad + green tea ice cream)

Since I once worked at a sushi restaurant, if you want good quality sushi, that's the right price. If the price intimidates you, you can always wait for the coupon to come out. Apparently, they do it quite often on a yearly basis. I bought a TeamBuy coupon of $22 for $50 worth of yummy Japanese sushi/gourmet.
No regret, especially with the beautiful decors and handsome waiters (Hohohoh...).
Yay to Japon Sushi Bar Review!
