Final Fantasy Gabranth Play Arts Kai

So Gabranth has arrived. This time I bought it from Robert Anime Corner Store because they offer the cheapest Gabranth there is! Trust me to find the cheapest goodies... I didn't buy from Things From Another World as I did with Squall because they don't have Gabranth. So I thought, why not give other online stores a try? So I scooped around and found Toylet. I saw they had Nero for $36.99 and Gabranth for $42.99 with $20 shipping for both. I was like okay, pretty fair and I get to buy Nero which is a rare nowadays. I read good reviews from them and ordered. Sadly, the store did a last minute check and both were sold out! I was very disappointed. My expectation was so high. They compensated their mistake with a 5% discount on one future purchase.
*Sigh* In the end, I bought Gabranth from RAC (They don't have Nero) for $36.99 + $14.99 shipping. It's still a good deal but I don't get to have Nero... *serious sulking going on*

Okay! So back to the magnificent Gabranth Play Arts Kai...

He is amazing. Utterly flawless! Squall sort of pale in comparison to his superb armor design. Look at the design of his armor and sword. Square Enix really did a good job with their blades. Even Squall's Gunblade looks really real.

You can also join Gabranth's two swords together by the butt. I had lots of fun testing it out! Gabranth's grip on the swords is much stronger than Squall's. Gabranth is also generally more firm and stable. Here is a back shot. The cape is beautiful. Don't you think it looks like it's bellowing? Splendid!

So stunning! The swords are truly a piece of arts. The gold embedded in the silver is just amazing!

Showdown with Squall! (Note: Yeah I took off Squall's white fluffy thingy around his waist because Squall's torso kept coming off... the ball joint around the waist is not very strong. Sad. Fortunately, Gabranth is very flexible. You can make him do a split! LOLOLOL)

Oh yes, the boys can switch blades. Squall can hold Gabrath's 2-in-1 sword pretty well. He won't be unbalanced by the weight. Gabrath on the other hand can hold the Gunblade but because of his hand position, the gunblade can only be held slanted. It's sort of weird but he can hold it.

For those who wonder about their height difference. There you go~ as well as how long the blades are. They are gorgeous, both the characters and the sword design. I have no regret buying them and photographed them like camfigurines! If you guys have any question about where to buy them, the reasonable price...etc. Or if you want to recommend me a superb figurine (Play Arts Kai), just comment below. I might be getting Snow Velliers or Ezio from Assassin Creed 2 (He looks so badass!)

Montreal Amusement Park: La Ronde! (Part 1)

Buckle up! We're in for one hellavu ride! Welcome to Montreal's thriller island: La Ronde! You heard it right! The freaking ISLAND is one paradise for family and young people to hang out and chill! So La Ronde... sweet La Ronde. Every kid-teen-young adult's fantasy world. The price is expensive about $50. I managed to buy the early seasonal pass for $48. Wooohoooo. Totally worthy. With the season pass, you can have 3 free passes! How cool is that? It also comes with a bunch of other coupons for cinema, Beavertails, nachos...etc. Craaazy!

So onto what's La Ronde alllll about! You guys are all here to see what are the rides, right?

This is Ednor. You are hanging off the trails. You aren't sitting the ride like traditional roller costers. You are like overgrown bats dangling off the rails on straps. Then it goes on high speed, spins you around. I was laughing like a maniac the whole ride! All you hear are scream of terror and my hysterical laughter.
I. Love. Thriller. Rides.

This is a view of the amusement park-island from above (sitting on another ride to take these photos). What you are seeing is the Saint-Laurent River. Montreal is located in the middle of a gigantic river. The island on which La Ronde is on (Jean Drapeau) is a tiny island beside Montreal.

This steel beauty is the MONSTER. It's crazy. It brings you inside the colossal structure and you are like "WHOA! Where are we? OMG my head is going to smash against the steel! NOOOOO" Yeah that's my reaction. Many people share my fear. That's what Monster is famous for. The line up for this buddy is at least 1 1/2 hour.

This super awesome roller coaster is the newest thriller ride called the Goliath. It's gorgeous to look at and scary as hell to ride on. Look at how steep the first part! At the right side of the photo, you see a flat semi-circle right? You think it's all safe and happy, right? Well, it wasn't! You are 90 degree from the ground! You are like "Holy Cow... I'm going to call off... I see the light!"

The front view of the DROP. See how steep it is? CRAZY! It's almost a free fall! I sat on the front row twice. When it drops, you feel your whole butt levitate from the seat. Holy shit.

This one is another exciting ride called the Vampire. Like Ednor (from above), you are strapped by your shoulders and off you go! From down here, all you see is people's legs sticking out of the ride. It's funny to look, scary to ride! Woohoooo~
The photos are too heavy so I had to split this trip into a few parts. Next week, it will be about the other more... passive rides and the awesome food section at La Ronde!

Do You Know Girls Play Diablo too?

For this week's Do You Know, I will be talking to you about my experience as a female gamer and the reactions I got from people...

I got quite a reaction when I told my male friends that I play Diablo 3. They were like "Are you sure you are not a man?" It seems so unreal to men that girls play games. Really... it shouldn't be so surprising. It's not that uncommon. There are plenty of female gamers out there. Before I start off, I want to make it clear that I play games for my own enjoyment. I don't seek to gain attention from men who think female gamers are desirable. Pfft. I just roll on my own, guys. Peace out! I play games since I was a kid so I find it strange that people is making such a fuss out of it! I agree that most girls prefer shopping and clubbing over spending hours on Diablo. I totally agree. Now, let's not assume I hate shopping and other girly activities. I love shopping. Especially when there's great sale. Maybe I am not a fanatic shopaholic but I love buying cute clothing to doll myself up. So I suppose my image doesn't fit with my gaming persona. Hmmm... I guess that's why the guys are shocked. I am sure there are other female gamers out there, walking on the streets but you just don't know. Not all female gamers have to be fat and unattractive nor do they have to look seductive and chew on a controller. We are just regular people. It's like looking at a man and wonder if he has a dog. You just can't tell from appearance alone.

It just annoys me that some men think games are just for them. Women have no place playing with them as teammates. Girls should go play Facebook Sims and Farmville. What are you? Still stuck in the sexist era?

Thank the heaven my male friends are mature fellows and didn't say anything rude or sexist. They even invite me to join them. So everything works out perfectly. Yay for awesome friends!

Now Diablo! I absolutely love the cinematic of Diablo (Azmodan's intro was pretty awesome but I am fond of Diablo). I never skipped these 2 scenes in Diablo... it's just so beautiful. Especially when Diablo fades away with the beautiful choir music. Pure beautiful! Now this is a spoiler for  noobs who haven't played and wish to play. If you are a veteran Diablo player or have no interest in playing it, watch this gorgeous cinematic! Mother of Diablo... it's breathtaking...

I usually play Diablo with my (super special awesome) dad. He had been waiting for the release for a decade now so we were all excited about it. When we learned about the Auction House, we bought stuff (with gold coin) and upgraded our equipment. Then we realize it wasn't as fun as the old Diablo game (without Auction House), We got way too powerful in the earlier acts and it lost its fun (ex. the thrill of getting yellow/legendary items). So my dad and I took a pledge that we don't buy from AH unless it's absolutely necessary (in Hell or Inferno). Sometimes, my friend(s) join us in the game. We have a Diablo sugar friend who gives us good equipments. If he is reading this, ha... he is going to kill me for calling him that.

Sometimes, we have cool people joining our party.
Guy: Let's wait for him.
Me: Her.
Friend: Yeah, it's a girl.
Guy: Oh, my bad. Wow. A girl gamer. I'm helping a girl (to level up). Very good for my ego.
Me: My number of bodyguards have increased. (Me Gusta)

Then whenever I am bored, I tortured my male characters with hilarious outfit. Behold what I did to my Demon Hunter... Pink cape, pink leggings, pink boots...oh god, hilarity ensures. When I took off his pink cloak, leaving the rest on... Oh boy, he looks like a gay stripper. Haha!

(Add rainbow color Legendary item to emphasize his pink flamboyant outfit. Worry not. I'm not homophobic. This is just me trolling my character design.)

Once we tried to play Nightmare Act 3 with level 34 characters... it was pitiful. One slap from a monster and died instantaneously. It was funny. After countless revival and public gamers' help, we managed to clear Nightmare Act 4 at level 38... so awesome.

Anyway, enough Diablo ranting!

So my point is, don't think girls can't enjoy a good game. Some girls are just less exposed to the gaming industry. That's all. If you ditch me at an arcade that has Time Crisis... I will be there for hours. I love that game. If you wondering what other games I play... well I like Warcraft, Alice Madness Returns, etc.

I once let my female friend tried out Prototype. We didn't do the missions. We ended up climbing the Empire State building, doing double-suicides with police officer. We hauled the policeman/car into the river. Then we tried to jump with the policeman. The cop fell inside the water while my dude got rejected and landed on the port. LOL? Yes, girls are pretty sadistic gamers too...

Good old times. I stop playing games due to heavy school load. Now when Diablo came out, it was summer so who cared... but summer is over... so sad gamer is sad. So yeah, I am pretty lost if you start talking to me about recent games. I'll be like wuuuut? I have lots of games to catch up... such as my precious Pokemon...

P.S: You probably wonder why I am still in love with Diablo and not seeking to smash it to smithereens?  The answer is that I haven't reached Inferno yet. My friend is telling me that if I had played Inferno, I wouldn't be blogging this in such pleasant tone. I would turn into an angry Barbarian woman and rant/crack the computer screen in halves.

Final Fantasy Dissidia Squall Play Arts Kai (Part 2)

So on August 23 2012, right after Squall arrived to my doorstep, I was immediately in love with this amazing figurine I got from TFAW. Seriously, he is really, really pose-able. I strongly recommend any figurine lover to buy one Play Arts Kai and try it out. You will love it. If you need help with any online figurine website, don't be shy and ask me. So let's see what other poses Squall can do...

Squall's articulation is perfect. Once you know where to twist, he can do any pose. When I saw him posing with his blade behind his head (on the back of the toy box), I immediately tested it out but his arm refused to bend backward. Today, I decided to give it a try and carefully rotated his shoulder-joint. TADA! He made it! Woohoo!

A front view of him holding his sword with two hands.

He is so cool when he wants to. I admit. He looks pretty girly compare to other anime heroes but as a sucker for cute guys, I just gotta fall head over heels for this brooding, angry fellow.

Squall admiring the sunset... always the lone wolf.
That was... before he toppled backward and fell down the stairs. Not rolling down the stairs. Literally plummeted down a 2 stories high stairs and shattered into 4 pieces (torso, bottom half, his white fluffy thing around his waist and his right hand). It was gruesome. Thank god Squall is a super hero and he was able to survive that dreadful fall. In reality, I used my superior Barbarian woman's strength to plop him back.

Save 40% on DC's New 52 Second Wave comics now!

AWW YEAAAHHH! That pose is just so boss! I'm still amazed he could stand on his own! Taking account gravity... this is really amazing.
Squall dumped Rinoa for Barbie (Facepalm)... that 'Love at first sight' staring contest... yummy!

In conclusion, I am very pleased with Squall. Good news is now that I tested out my very first Play Arts, I am going to purchase other figurines. He is slightly fragile compare to Gabranth (also from Final Fantasy Dissidia). Gabranth is the beast! I will be posting a review on that stunning figurine next week.

You really don't want to miss out on Gabranth! Look at that badass!

Online Shopping Experiences

Online shopping! If you are new (or interested) to the online shopping trend, relax and enjoy this blog. Ok, my very first purchase online was with Amazon. Buying books. If you are scared of shopping online, my recommendation is that you start with some really, really trusted websites. Most of the super uber famous stores should be safe. Once you purchase from the trusted websites and got your orders delivered to your house, you will feel more daring afterward and venture to the less popular sites.

I strongly recommend you do some research before buying. You want to know their reputation, their policy, etc. Normally I read about other customers' reviews on places such as Resellerratings (http://www.resellerratings.com/). Not only do you get an idea how the stores deliver their promises but you also feel more secure after reading the good reviews. Also, it's important to know the store's return policy. The policy differs from stores so you might want to know what exactly you are dealing with.

Now I will talk about some experiences I have with online shopping and some awesome online stores...

Let's start from local to international goodies. For local deals, I visit Teambuy and RedFlagDeals for updates. I believe they are Canadian websites. So if you are in Canada, you're lucky. If not, don't panic. I'm sure you can find your local coupon stores if you search it up. Anyhow, the deals these sites have are pretty good.
http://www.teambuy.ca/
http://www.redflagdeals.com/

Here are some deals we bought:

  • Yeh, Yogurt and Cafe --$5 for $10--

You make your own delicious yogurt ice cream with all sort of yummy topping. It's like going to Honeyduke at Hogsmeade... delicious!

  • Beaver Tail and Moozoo --$5 for $10--

Doesn't the food look so yummy? Totally worthy! You can see how a Beavertail looks like in the first picture. It's on the board. You can also buy Moozoo (smoothie). Look at those beautiful ice cream. Seriously, some flavors gave me toothache. That's how sweet it is. And I have high sweet tolerance! But anything can be cured with a nice, large smoothie made of fresh fruits!

That's it for local for the moment.

Now we head to international online shopping! Fly awaaaaayyyy to....

Amazon!

I bought really the most random books from Amazon like Diablo: Legacy of Blood, Hunger Games (Yes I read it before it was even cool. I was such a hipster back then), a bunch of Harry Potter books, a Karen Miller's trilogy and unfortunately, I also bought some random books that I don't quite like. It happens. I was tricked by the beautiful book covers *insert guilty, kick-puppy face*. They usually come in a brown box with an Amazon smiling logo on it. The cardboard is pretty thick and hard so you don't have to be afraid of crumpled goods. From experience, the delivery is fast. Hmmm, what else? Gift certificate can be trusted. I received gift certificates on my birthday (Ahem, nerd) and I can tell you that it's safe even though it's a big amount like in the hundreds. Anyhow, Amazon is a really reliable site, at least for books. I never tried out the electronics so I can't say much. In Canada, the shipping is free if you purchase more than $25 (used to be $35 back in the days). So it's a really good deal. I loooove Free Shipping!

Visit Amazon here!

Now let's take the AliExpress!

For cheap clothing, I shop at AliExpress. The price is ridiculously cheap compare to retail stores. And my favorite thing about this site is.... FREE SHIPPING! You heard right! The shipping is free! UNCONDITIONALLY. I bought this dress for $5 and the shipping is free! Tell me where else can you find such good deal? Of course, I did a bunch of research before I buy from AliExpress because the deal is just too good to be true. Much to my relief, the goods came by Airmail and are good quality. They don't tear and the material is soft and comfortable! So yes, I will be buying more from them.

To buy Things From Another World (TFAW)!
I was actually searching for a specific product (Final Fantasy Dissidia Squall Play Arts Kai .... see my old posts in August) when I came across this site. It was offering the cheapest Squall so I immediately jumped onto it. Of course. With a great amount of research. Much to my surprise, the Resellerrating was very very very positive. So I was sort of suspicious but I still gave it a try anyway. Now that I received the goods, I understand why people are so happy with their purchase.
Let me explain.

I bought Squall for $29.99 whereas the retail price is $49.99. So I was already pretty happy. So the box came like this. It has little cute Styrofoam to protect the gorgeous Squall box. At first I saw the little flyer with Zero Month. Then beneath it was Squall's box. It was only a day later that I was letting my baby brother play with the Styrofoam that we realized there was SOMETHING ELSE in there. We dispersed the Styrofoam and to our surprise.... IT'S A COMIC!
Omg. I was quite surprised. TFAW gifted me a comic. Ha! Speaking of excellent customer's satisfaction. I love their style! You gotta admit. It's pretty sweet!

So yup! Now I am uber happy (doesn't take much to make me happy, isn't it? XP)!
TFAW has a great variety of comics and figurines. You can get the comics really cheap. Lots of DC and Marvel and co! Super cheap shipping! Simply stunning. Who knows, you might get a free copy too and one free future shipping! Sweet deal!
